Hi There.

Sometimes you have the pleasure of attending an event that totally hits the spot, that is extremely well organized and is totally focused on it’s customers and delivers 100% of what it promises, I had that pleasure on Sunday July 4th and that event was the Goodwood Festival of Speed

It sets out to bring together all of the top drivers, every great competition car from the last 50 years that has mattered and to put it in one of the great locations, an area of great beauty which is approached by some of the best driving roads in the United Kingdom and in a way that is totally accessible to the visitor, I can think of nowhere else that you can get this close to everything with no smoke and mirrors whatsoever

You will be beginning to gather that my Sunday was a great day, a wonderful release and one which I will bore everybody who will listen with for weeks to come, but there is an important under current to this post that no business owner can ignore!

You see a business that puts on an event, a day, delivers a product in an up front, what you see is what you get way that then dramatically over delivers will have an army of people who will go and willingly tell their story for them, just imagine what the 175,000 people who attended the festival of speed will be saying about their experience, no budget on earth buys that kind of advertising, it’s priceless

Okay Tony I here what you’re saying, so you had a great Sunday, good for you, but where is this going, good question, allow me to explain what I got from the day beyond a lot of enjoyment

But first let me ask you what do you feel when you have a bad experience, you feel cheated, let down, if you had invited friends or family to join you there is a feeling that maybe you have let them down, maybe you question your judgement, even feel a little embarrassed that you had put them through this

So how does this preamble relate to the Online World in which most of us operate? sadly it’s all to simple I’m afraid, just think of the flood of messages that hit your inbox on a daily basis and look at the motives of the people delivering them, a few deliver great content, most look lazy, little more than copy and paste profit in their thinking

Now think of the effect of this on you, the recipient of the message, certain people when you receive their messages you devour what they have to say, you trust their judgement and will be much more likely to buy on their recommendation, not in some blind way but selectively when it answers a need that you have, an area of your business that you have been actively seeking a solution

Sadly so many of the solutions we are offered are little more than smoke and mirrors, rehashed old ideas that either never worked to start with or ideas that once worked but no longer work as things develop, often they are dressed up in clever sales letter designed to make you feel that a failure to act would be in itself an admission of your lack of vision on your part

When you buy one of these products and let’s face it we all have you will feel cheated, it tells a small part of the story, the remainder, the bit that makes it actually work is missing and I suspect that many times the person selling it has no actual idea what the solution is other than it answers their need to put money in their pocket

What it begins to tell me is simple because the Online customer is in the end no different, if their experience is good they will come back for more information, more solutions, if the solutions work they will happily buy your product and your recommendation on other peoples products, but be true to yourself and your customers

Ask yourself that most important of questions,WIIFM! because your customer always wants to know What’s In It For Me!he or she doesn’t care about your success or otherwise, what they care about is does this solution deliver, does it solve my problem and does it do it in a way that is straightforward

Most people don’t use the 47 bonuses worth $8975.00 Dollars, Hmmm!and critically don’t want something that is so complex that it would make an Professor at Cambridge or Harvard feel silly because they can’t simply begin to understand what it’s supposed to do or something that takes 6 hours of watching heavily padded videos to get to the three minutes that actually tell you how it works instead of telling you about their latest house or car

So the solution is KISS! keep it simple stupid!and keep it honest and believable, if you over deliver in a world of smoke and mirrors, if you talk of real outcomes, real solutions when others are talking beaches, mansions and top end sports cars you will by extension have what you want because on the way you will have helped a lot of people get what they want, just think of the power of my day out a Goodwood when you are creating your next product or are putting together your next affiliate offer

Until next time

Hi There

A cloudy sky has descended after a long hot spell in the UK and horror of horrors we had some rain for the first time in months, almost enough to keep the dust down

The run up to the weekend saw the issuing of severe weather warnings, guys it’s 30 degrees, it’s nice and warm, what are you going to do when summer arrives

So apart from the British obsession with the weather what’s been going on? Well we had the British Grand Prix at the weekend so yours truly was in for another motor sport treat or so I thought

All the ingredients were in place, a cloudless sky, a newly revamped Silverstone circuit, one of the best just got better and there’s more to come for 2011 and Red Bull the Milton Keynes base team were dominant in qualifying, what could go wrong?

Sadly all was far from good in paradise as a very public spat developed in the media over Red Bulls treatment of Mark Webber by pulling bits off of his car and putting them on his team mates Sebastian Vettel

Fired up by this Webber went on to dominate and Vettel got a puncture on the first lap, despite his strong fight back Vettel only finished 7th and the team had to explain itself to the worlds media after the race

In a way it was a shame because Christian Horner the boss of Red Bull Racing is an extremely likable man but you couldn’t help feeling the damage was done, the air as they say could have been cut with a knife!

At this point you will be wondering what does this have to do with online marketing, well I happen to think it has strong parallels, allow me to explain

You see there is an easy way and a hard way to build your online business, for starters are you a reinvent the wheel type or are you more of a mastermind group type?, be sure to be in the second group, they win every time, believe me

Does that mean you lose your identity? no of course not, it just means you have somebody to turn to when you get stuck and in turn you help others when they hit a brick wall

You share the ideas that have brought you success and warn your group about that slick sales letter that promises the earth but is all fluff and no delivery or sometimes far worse!

As things develop you have a group of like minded people who will promote your products to their lists, in turn you have a new supply of their offers to put in front of yours, are you beginning to see how powerful this is?

Your knowledge grows faster, your list grows faster and your income grows faster, given this why on earth would anybody try to go it alone?

Sadly I think it goes back to traditional business and regarding the guy or girl down the street in the same business as your opposition, online your sale could be down the street or half way around the world

Your business will grow so much faster if you share what you know and in turn if you need a solution you just call or e mail one of your group and the solution is back within a couple of hours

So for those of you up a 3.00am still trying to solve the problem that you started doing the research on at 9.00pm last night remember to join a group near you and be pro active, don’t worry about asking the question you think sounds a bit dumb, you get the answer and you move on

Just don’t forget this is not a one way street, make a point of answering other peoples sticking points, you will see people hitting the same brick wall you ran into six months earlier, remember the feeling of relief you felt when you got it done, make sure they can feel the same

So the lesson from the British Grand Prix is simple, people who pull together win together those who fight amongst themselves always lose in the end

The earth is covered in monuments to the moment, testaments to civilisations that thought they could run rough shot over others, in the end they never can and never will

Until next time

Another week has somehow raced by, where does the time go I wonder, thankfully our weather has settled down again it’s warmer and dryer much more to my liking

So what have I been up to? well I have tried to introduce more accountability into my own work by getting my peers to observe what I do in the Marketing With Alex forum and I have just suggested that our London Mastermind group do the same thing

Talking of the London group we met on Saturday 17th July and as always it delivered, this time on Social Book marking, Traffic Generation and on using Google Places for locally based businesses to interact better with their customers

In the afternoon it was my turn to be reviewed after my hot seat last month, good progress has been made but as always there is more to do, the feedback is invaluable

Following on from that, Mark was in The Hot seat on his blog on leaving the Army, he explained the issues that people go through on leaving the services and the help he can offer as somebody who has been in their shoes

A number of recommendations were made on layout, use of space and general functionality and a to do list was created for him to work on, it’s not the most comfortable process but it’s very valuable in my view

I blogged about this on the 22nd June but if you wish to find out more go to www.meetup.com/Smart-Marketing-Warriors/ for meeting dates and comments from attendees

Outside of this we have had a great week of sport, the Open finished yesterday with a very worthy winner in Louis Oosthuizen
the 27 year old South African who looked so calm under pressure, doubtless there will be a few celebrations going on there

Moto GP saw the return of Valentino Rossi after breaking his leg just six weeks ago, Jorge Lorenzo looked as though he would win again until a crash lower down the order saw the race stopped after 9 laps

In the restarted race Danny Pedrosa managed to get away and win by a couple of seconds, the bikes seemed to be set more for a qualifying sprint and Jorge Lorenzo settled for second place which keeps his championship led at 47 points

Getting back to Internet based business a couple of things have impressed me greatly this week by way of resources, Daniel Tan’s Seopressor is just about to be launched in version 4, it’s a plug in that works really well in WordPress to search engine optimize your pages, it even tells you how to keep making it better

It really is so straight forward every blog should really have this as part of their toolbox, version 4 launches on 21st July, you really should go and check this out if you don’t already have it, go to http://tiny.cc/0d9bg let me know how you get on with it?

I have put a more comprehensive review of Daniel Tan’s product on the review page if you wish to read more about it

On the traffic generation side which we all get used to seeing warmed over old ideas there are a couple of great products on the market at the moment

Graig Dawber has a really new idea and guess what it really works, the time saving software has really opened my eyes, he really does know his stuff and he has an insane offer at the moment where you can try it for $4.97

Who knows how long he will keep this offer in place but while he does I would suggest that you go and take a look, you won’t be disappointed, go to http://tiny.cc/y4ycz

I am currently reviewing another one but had not been able to check it out thoroughly so I will talk about it next time

Let me know how they work for you

Until next time

Sitting here on a Cloudy but warm Monday morning I am reflecting on the week gone by, it’s been an interesting mixture one which has included a lot of sport and an important discovery on high quality authority backlinks

The early part of the week saw me take to the Golf Course for the first time in nearly three years, I am supposed to be good at this game after all

It was not going blind I had practiced and it paid off, we played at Woburn, tree lined and difficult, I hit the big shots well even though that’s supposed to be the difficult bit

It was the 30 to 110 yard stuff that was my undoing and that’s all about feel and instinct, that connection between brain and hands had vanished and I have only myself to blame for that, classic own goal

Another feast of Motor Racing saw the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim, a big return to form saw both Ferrari’s in the top three in qualifying and saw Felipe Massa take the lead from the first corner and lead until 18 laps from the end

Then he got the fateful call from race engineer Rob Smedley saying his team mate was quicker, hmm! Alonso was allowed through and took first place, I’m relunctant to say won as Massa would have done that

I’ll nail my colours to the mast here, I live a 10 minute car journey from the Red Bull factory yet I am a big Ferrari fan, this leaves a really nasty taste in the mouth and damages one of the great driver, race engineer relationships

Fortunately my faith in Motor Sport was restored a few hours later from Laguna Seca with the Moto GP, Danny Pedrosa got the jump on pole position man Jorge Lorenzo, but Pedrosa crashed out whilst being pursued by Lorenzo, hunted down might be a better description

Lorenzo went on to win by quite a big margin and then as always the real fun begins, around a minute later he appears in a silver spacesuit with racing helmet also in silver to plant his flag, I wonder how many millions around the burst out laughing as I did when I saw this

I think this may only be available in the UK but if not I urge you to watch this, it will brighten up any day http://tinyurl.com/2ah9v85

As a spectacle Moto GP is close, exciting racing where the guys still know how to have fun, sadly I think Formula One is descending into a self serving farce at the moment which is a shame as racing wise this has been one of the closest seasons for years

Enough indulgence, in the Online World one person has really impressed me this week in the form of Ryan Deiss, he has given away a couple of really great reports and some supporting software
which helps to develop high quality authority backlinks

The first piece of software allows you to immediately check if a niche keyword is possible to rank for by allowing you to see in under a minute what number of back links and inbound link exist on the top Google ranked sites already in their niches, a massive timesaver

The second report shows you how to build quality back links with real authority, I know there are bits of software that find page ranked sites or blogs but have have you actually tried commenting on them, because if you have welcome to the frustration club, been there, done that, this is different

It’s strange but after scanning through hundreds of reports looking for the nuggets amongst the fluff, to get a couple of reports that are all meat and 100 actionable in around 20 minutes to half an hour is to say the least rare and very welcome

The outcome of these reports on high quality authority backlinks will be a lot more Fr*ee Traffic and higher ranking in the search engines, to pay for this would be worth it, to get it for nothing well that’s priceless http://tiny.cc/lpt75
